 Based on my research and on Trevor Royle’s book on Culloden, the 1740’s was a tumultuous time in Scotland’s history, and I reflected that in The Highlander’s Secret.
The Highlander’s Secret is a friends-to-lovers, afraid to commit, revenge, dark secret, marriage-of-convenience, and spy caper Historical Romance novel that doesn’t shy away from violence or brutality. If you are sensitive to these things, this is not the book for you.
But if you love happy endings, attractive and complex main characters who save the day and give you one hell of an emotional rollercoaster ride, then you are exactly the reader I am looking for! Hello my dear friends :)
Writing this book took me to some dark places and I will be honest, the original manuscript had parts that I eventually ended up cutting due to the feedback from my Critique Group. So, what you end up getting is a tender slow burn yet steamy love story that stands defiantly in the center of a tornado of brutality and violence and says, ‘do your worse’.
